An Interdisciplinary Performance by Cay Izumi
Inspired by “The Blue Hood” from Ueda Akinari’s Ugetsu Monogatari, AoZukin explores desire, attachment, and the unstable boundary between the human and the demonic.
Through contemporary dance, spoken narrative, live violin, and visual elements, the performance asks: How does our inner world transform what we see? Who is perceived as a monster—and through whose eyes?
Rooted in Japanese classical literature and shaped through collaboration across cultures and artistic disciplines, this New York presentation brings the story into a new setting.
